Event Details

The leaves are changin', pumkins are appearing on porches (and in ovens), and apples are falling from their trees. To celebrate the changing seasons, Emily Ritchie, '12, has offered to host FoodCorps alums for an afternoon of apple pressing and fresh cider making. We're looking forward to our first official alumni event in PDX!

What: BYO Apple Cider pressing! Come home with a 1/2 gallon or more of fresh cider (depending on how many apples you bring)
Who: FoodCorps alums in the PDX metro area
When: Sunday, October 28th, 2-5pm
Where: Emily Ritchie's house, 2050 NW Johnson St

What to bring: You should plan to bring 10 lbs of apples to bring home approx. 1/2 gallon of fresh cider. Bring a container that's appropriately sized to the amount of cider you'd like to press. Pressing can be a messy activity, so we'll be outside/in Emily's garage for the pressing, so make sure to dress warmly. We'll have a popup tent to keep the rain away if it comes. We will have some fall treats for folks to munch on as we press, but feel free to bring a tasty snack to share if you'd like! Finally, we'll use this as a chance to think about what other sort of alumni events we'd like to put together, so bring your creative ideas for how you'd like to connect with other FoodCorps folk in the future :)

If you have any questions, post them in the group, or send me a message directly. You can also reach me via phone at (503) 703-7962. We'd like to get a sense for how many folks are able to join - please RSVP in the group discussion (https://fc.360alumni.com/view-group/946/portland-or-alumni-chapter) to let us know if you can make it!
