THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 15TH
Title: Culturally Responsive Teaching: Deepening Our Practices and Reflecting on Implicit Bias
Presenter: Rachel Willis, Elevating Equity
Description: This session will allow service members to deepen their understanding and practice of culturally responsive teaching. Service members will learn how various types of implicit bias may impact their relationships within their school or service communities, and will explore ways of mitigating implicit bias in their classrooms. This hands on session will incorporate the modeling of a culturally responsive FoodCorps lesson and will highlight how to plan for classroom management using these approaches.

Title:  Working Toward and Sustaining Partnership and Ally Relationships
Presenter: Dionardo Pizaña
Description: Working effectively across race, class, gender/gender identity and other differences can be life giving and difficult.  It can be life giving when we experience or create environments that welcome our full selves or the wholeness of our partners finding new ways to be in community with each other.  It can be difficult when we consciously or unconsciously operate in ways that maintain power and privilege in our relationships across differences. During  this session, we will work together to better understand  how to move toward becoming more effective and authentic allies in our personal and professional lives.  During this session service members will:
- Explore issues of power, privilege and social identity
- Learn about qualities of authentic relationships across differences
- Explore the role of emotions in working across differences and approaches to positive confrontation
- Identify next steps on the journey working toward authentic relationships and allied behaviors

We will have an alumni mixer and celebratory dinner in the evening.

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 16TH
We will have a series of career development sessions on this day including a career exploration workshop with Jim Laden and a career panel with alumni and local professionals.
We look forward to seeing you!
